Dr. Smitha Koduru will be presenting, "Comparison of Approaches for Infrastructure Investment Decision-making for Climate Adaptation" at the International Symposium on Life-cycle Civil Engineering organized by the International Association for Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE) in Melbourne, Australia from July 15-18, 2025. She is also chairing the session on "Life-cycle management in organizational context".
Dr. Smitha Koduru will be presenting on "Compressive Strain Capacity Reliability of Hydrogen-Carrying Steel Pipelines in Permafrost" on June 23rd at the 44th ASME International Conference on Ocean, Offshore, and Arctic Engineering (OMAE 2025) . See here for the presentation abstract and the conference schedule.
Dr. Smitha Koduru will be presenting on novel risk measures on pipeline safety and approaches to estimate flood resilience metrics at the 14th International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability - ICOSSAR'25. Follow the ICOSSAR'25 website for full schedule.
Dr. Smitha Koduru will attend Banff Pipeline Workshop 2025 as a Facilitator for the Work Group 7 - Risk Management. The two sessions in the work group address the challenges in consequence modelling to address safety risk, and the impact of risk assessment results on decision-making.
Dr. Smitha Koduru attended NHERI Computational Symposium at UCLA held Feb 6-7, 2025. She presented the latest work on using the satellite imagery for assessing the road network resilience to the flood events.
Dr. Smitha Koduru was accepted to the Alberta Machine Intelligence Instituate (AMII) KickStart program in Edmonton. The two week program will provide opportunities to explore applications of machine learning in the industry and network with professionals of similar interests.
Google research has developed an Earth Engine App to share a temporal dataset of building presence from 2016 to 2023. This helps to identify both disaster metrics by estimating the building count loss pre- and immediately post-disaster event, as well as assess recovery and resilience by estimating the building presence counts over time within the disaster zone. Access the datasets here.
Happy Holidays!
Research work by Dr. Smitha Koduru on the post-flood urban road network resilience has been accepted for poster presentation at the NHERI Symposium scheduled for Feb 5-7, 2025. More details of the research work are available here.
Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) of the United States Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) has announced a public risk modeling workshop to be held on October 23 and 24 to discuss risk modeling methodologies and tools for gas, CO2 and hazardous liquids pipelines. Public is invited to provide comments on the webpage for public notice here.
Dr. Smitha Koduru is presenting at IPC 2024 - International Pipeline Conference held in Calgary, Alberta from Sep 24 - 27, 2024.
